| Books I've read since January and I highly suggest you read some too!
1.The other Boelyn Girl (Phillipa Gregory)- way better than the movie. Way better. Made me check out some books about the real ann boelyn and henry viii. Pretty good storytelling, pretty easy to read.
2. The nanny diaries (Emma McLaughlin & Nicole Kraus)- Also better than the movie. Tons better, the movie is not all that much like the book. Pretty easy read, good airplane book.
3. Three Little Words (Ashley Rhodes-Courtier) - This is a memoir about a girl who was in foster care for 9 years before she was adopted. It basically tells how she came to realize what it felt like to have a home, a family, and to feel loved. Easy read, good memoir.
4. Traveling mercies (Ann Lamott)- Soooooooooooooooo goood!!!!! Ann Lamott is excellent with descriptions and just writing in general. Its sort of like a female donald miller... This book is about how Ms.Lamott came to believe in Jesus and her thoughts on faith. Very, very good and encouraging to people who don't feel like they know everything about being spiritual.
5. Girl, Interrupted (Susanna Kayson)- Also better than the movie. Extremely good writer. extremely. Very good discussion of mental illness from the perspective of someone who has been diagnosed with a mental disorder.
6. Daniel isn't talking- This is about a boy who has autism. Its all written from the mom's perspective. This has alot of good descriptive writing. Good story.
7. Chronicles of Narnia (all of them except: The horse and his boy)- Its C.S.Lewis. Its amazing. There's a lion. read them.
8. The Bell Jar (Slyvia Plath)- My favorite book out of all of these books and among the favorites of all books I've ever read. Its just good. read it.
10. Prep (Curtis something) - good. about a prep school.
I think thats it. Have fun living!

| or maybe not. its just a hunch because I don't like oprah very much. A bit about my new job: I am a student support specialist at an alternative behavioral school. Basically I am like a Teacher's aide plus a few psychologically enhanced duties like monitoring and recording their behavior/compliance to rules and whatnot and eventually(hopefully next week) doing billing/writing a behavioral report(basically telling insurance companies that the students are meeting certain goals set in their treatment plans) about for up to 8 students. I work in the middle school classroom (grades 8 and below). 95% of the students are african american and all of them have a probation officer due to them having a police report(which is a requirement to get into the school). Oh and I have to get there at 6:45am every day. yay for mornings! My job is challenging in almost every way. But every night I think about the students and I think about their lives and how I am so lucky and happy that I get to know them. I actually get to work someplace where I feel like I'm doing something. Its not easy but its not hell. 9 more weeks and then its summer! I don't have a lot of motivation to write here so...this is all there is for now. |

| I think God is far better than I have ever given Him credit for. Not that He needs my 'credit' but I'm sure He will appreciate it. So these are things God has given me and I feel like making a list of them: 1. My job. This past week was my first week at the school (Northcare Alternative Behavioral School) and it was challenging beyond what I thought it would be. Of course I love that I get to take my work home with me...at least in my mind. I get to know these kids and I get to know their burden and it breaks my heart and I love it more than I could say. 2. I"m going to NYC tomorrow to meet up with dustin and we get to stay, free of hotel costs(thanks to the lovely Kara). I feel like I'm getting to go someplace comfortable and exciting. 3. D group. About a month or so ago, dustin and I were invited to join a d-group with three other absolutely amazing couples. I can't believe we didn't even have to go looking for this. They called us and since then its been a really great time of new friendships for me and good hang time for dustin. I love it. so. there it is. Thank you Jesus for all of these things and all of the other things and for life. I don't deserve a single bit of it. Happy spring break students and people who get spring breaks! |
